Update on Kentucky Junior Match Play Championship

One of the most prestigious events on the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour calendar has its details finalized. The Kentucky Junior Match Play Championship will take place in one weekend at Polo Fields Golf & Country Club on April 10-11. Because this event typically stretches over two weekends, some changes have been made in order for this to be possible.

Every match will be contested as either a 9-hole or 6-hole match, regardless of the round in the competition. Divisions that usually play 18-hole rounds (Boys 15-18, Girls 15-18, Boys 14 & Under, Girls 14 & Under) will play 9-hole matches. Divisions that play 9-hole rounds (Boys 11-12, Girls 10-12 and Boys 10 & Under) will play 9-hole matches as well while 6-hole divisons (Boys 8 & Under and Girls 9 & Under) will play 6-hole matches.

The schedule of when matches will be played depends on the amount of entries in each division, but it can be expected that the first two rounds of the competition will take place on Saturday, April 10th while the final two rounds will be played on Sunday, April 11th. That means barring a match going extra holes, players do not need to anticipate playing anymore than 18 or 12 holes each day, depending on the division the player is in.
