The social media networks you use to follow all things related to junior golf in Kentucky have gotten a makeover. Our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages now go under the name "Kentucky Junior Golf" rather than "Kentucky PGA Junior Tour." With that, the handle for each account is now @JuniorGolfKY as opposed to @TuckPGA. 

The reasoning for the change is simple in the fact that Kentucky Junior Golf is far more than just the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour. While an integral part of the Kentucky Golf Foundation's mission to grow the game for Kentucky's youth, some families and children may not want to play competitive golf. For them, Youth on Course might be what they need to be introduced to. Ultimately though, because Youth on Course costs just $5 for a membership and just $5 green fees at most facilities that welcome its members, every child in Kentucky should have the proper exposure to Youth on Course.

There are also the two key developmental programs with a competitive feel, being PGA Jr. League and Drive, Chip & Putt. PGA Jr. League continues to revolutionize junior golf nationwide by putting chlldren into teams on the golf course. The chance to learn the game with friends and then going on to playing matches with those same friends has led to significant growth and interest in golf amongst our youth. Drive, Chip & Putt then lends itself as a great first step for those players wanting individual competition. By entering a Local Qualifier, participants will hit three drives, three chips and three putts. Should their score be high enough, they move onto the Subregional Qualifier. If they succeed there, they advance to the Regional Qualifier; which typically takes place at a major championship venue in one of Kentucky's neighboring states. Should they emerge victorious there, the next step is Augusta National Golf Club on the eve of Masters week. It's a tremendously popular program that unfortunately was lost in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its presence will be most welcome back in 2020.
