Second major of the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour season begins on Tuesday in Bardstown.

BARDSTOWN, KY (June 27, 2022) – For the second consecutive year, Bardstown Country Club is the site of the Kentucky Girls & 9-Hole Boys Junior Amateur. It’s the second major championship of the season for the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour after the dramatic Kentucky Junior PGA Championships that took place in Richmond at the beginning of the month.

The competition starts on Tuesday and will finish on Wednesday with one round of stroke play taking place each day. Several divisions will be competing in this competition with the Girls 16-18 Division playing for the top title at stake, where the overall Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur champion will be crowned.

This year will serve as the 44^th edition of the championship which features a strong list of champions. Lydia Gumm, Ke’Asha Phillips, Rylea Marcum, Laney Frye, and Claira Beth Ramsey highlight the list of champions this event has produced in the last decade alone.

With no past champions of the overall competition entered this year, a new name is guaranteed to be etched onto the trophy this week. Some of the players to watch as possibilities to join this distinguished group of champions includes the players below, with their tee times on the 1^st hole listed in parenthesis.

• Madison Borders (9:10 a.m. EDT) – A hometown product with lots of knowledge about the golf course, Borders finished in solo third at the 2021 Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur at this very facility.
• Elizabeth Eberle (9:40 a.m.) – Eberle notched a top-three finish in the first major of the season at The University Club at Arlington when she finished just one shot back of a playoff for the title. In this event last year, she finished in the top-five.
• Emma Lindemoen (8:40 a.m.) – The reigning champion of the Lou Perry Championship pursues her second major this week. She currently holds a share of fourth place in this year’s Player of the Year standings.
• Mary Keene Marrs (8:00 a.m.) – This will be Marrs’ final start in this tournament with her college career at Eastern Kentucky beginning in August. She reached the semifinals in last week’s Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Women’s Kentucky Amateur.
• Athena Singh (9:30 a.m.) – Singh has been outstanding on the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour so far this year with four wins in five starts. Her tremendous play carried into AJGA competition two weeks ago as she won the NRP Bluegrass Junior at Bellefonte Country Club, her first career win on that circuit.
• Keira Yun (8:30 a.m.) – A steady force in major competition, Yun finished T6 in the Junior PGA earlier this month and was T7 in last year’s Junior Amateur. Her consistent play makes her a likely contender for this week.
