Kentucky PGA Junior Tour's 2021 Schedule

LOUISVILLE, KY (January 15, 2021) – The craziness of 2020 meant the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour lost approximately one-third of its planned schedule. The 2021 schedule is here to make up for that, with one of the strongest schedules ever assembled in the Tour’s history that will begin on Sunday, March 21.

The Tour’s major championships will commence in early June, with the Boys and Girls Kentucky Junior PGA Championships overlapping on June 2-3. As has become a tradition in recent years, the events will stay in their Richmond homes with the boys playing at Gibson Bay Golf Course while the girls take on the University Club at Arlington.

The Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur will take place in June this year with Bardstown Country Club serving as host. That will take place on June 24-25. Two weeks later, Nevel Meade Golf Club will be the site of the Kentucky Boys Junior Amateur on July 6-7.

The Lou Perry Tour Championship will return to its traditional late July timeslot rather than be held in October like it was last year following adjustments from the pandemic. Hunting Creek Country Club will provide an outstanding stage for the summer campaign to conclude this year, with the tournament taking place on July 26-27.

After the Barbasol Junior Championship’s planned debut in 2020 was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event is now set to kick off for the first time this summer. This tournament will soon become the most prestigious junior golf tournament in the state with the top male players from Kentucky and beyond competing for a spot in the Barbasol Championship. The Barbasol Junior itself takes place June 29-July 1 at Keene Trace – Keene Run. A qualifier will be held at Boone’s Trace National Golf Club on June 9-10 where the top six finishers will advance to the tournament. Kentuckians already exempt for the tournament include Hayden Adams, Jay Nimmo and Warren Thomis based off their accomplishments last season. The winner of this year’s Kentucky Boys Junior PGA Championship will also earn an exemption into the Barbasol Junior.

The Barbasol Junior kicks off a big stretch of championship junior golf in the state as the Junior PGA Championships return to Kentucky this summer just three years after their last visit. Kearney Hill Golf Links will host the Boys Junior PGA Championship on July 12-15 and Valhalla Golf Club will be the home of the Girls Junior PGA Championship on July 27-30. The top two finishers from the 15-18 Divisions at the Kentucky Junior PGA Championships in early June will qualify and be eligible to compete for one of the biggest trophies in the junior realm of the sport in their home state later in the summer.

The Kentucky PGA Junior Tour’s spring and summer schedule plus associated events for junior golfers is as follows. The fall schedule will be announced at a further time. Please note dates and venues are subject to change. Tournament registration will open in February.
