Junior Tour Season Delayed Until June 29th

The Kentucky PGA Junior Tour is disappointed to share unfortunate news that the start date of the 2020 season will be pushed back to June 29th. Recently, a document from the Kentucky state government was shared with the Tour's staff outlining the details of the resumption of youth sports from the novel coronavirus pandemic. While it was stated that youth sports would be allowed to resume on June 15th, what was not revealed until this document became available was that June 15th would be the day youth sports practices could resume while June 29th would be the day youth sports competitions could resume. The Kentucky PGA Junior Tour would like to emphasize that multiple calls were made to various city governments and county health departments across the state if junior golf could be excluded from these rules, but were repeatedly declined and told no competitions could take place until June 29th.

We are extremely disappointed by this news, but the Tour's absolute priority since the beginning of the pandemic has always been to put our participants and their families' health at the forefront. We trust that these regulations from the state government will ensure this mission while we comply with this policy.

Because of the inconvenience yet another delay causes, we are pleased to announce that all 2020 Kentucky PGA Junior Tour memberships will also include membership in the 2021 season. Additionally, if there is a balance on your 2020 BlueGolf account, that balance will carry forward to the 2021 season.

As for 2020 tournaments, it is important to note that if an event at a golf course has been postponed to a new date, you will be still listed as a registrant for that tournament. If a tournament is outright canceled, your account will be credited.

The 2020 season will now begin with the Kentucky Junior PGA Championships in Richmond. The boys will still play at Gibson Bay Golf Course on June 29-30 while the girls will still play at The University Club at Arlington on July 1-2. With the latest reshuffle, the Tour has moved the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour Championship to the weekend of what would have been the Fall Classic on October 17-18 at University Club of Kentucky. That event will be open to all players and not be invitation-only as it has been in previous years.

We know the news of another postponement is extremely frustrating and understand the inconvenience this causes. We do greatly appreciate your cooperation, however, and are very thankful of your continued support of the program throughout these trying times. We look forward to seeing you on the golf course soon and wish you and your families continued healthiness until that time.
