Jacob Settles' Sub-70 Score Gets Lou Perry Tour Championship Started

PROSPECT, KY (July 26, 2021) – The Lou Perry Tour Championship got off to a hot start at Hunting Creek Country Club, both in terms of weather and the level of play demonstrated. The top players of the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour began their final competition of the 2021 summer season with many strong rounds kicking off the tournament.

Jacob Settles of the Boys 15-18 Division had the top round of the day with a 68 (-4) in Monday’s first round. This gives him a four-stroke lead ahead of Ben Spencer who shot 72 (E). Settles, fresh off winning the Men’s Club Championship at Winchester Country Club, had a very consistent round with five birdies and one bogey. Four birdies on the back nine helped Settles in finishing out his first round of the championship in style with an inward nine of 32 (-4). Spencer and Trey Wall, who sits in third place, will join Settles in the final group of the division on Tuesday morning.

In the Girls 15-18 Division, Emma Lindemoen, a member at Hunting Creek, got off to a hot start on Monday and takes a six-stroke lead with her into the second round. Lindemoen started off with a consistent front nine and finished her back nine with an eagle on the par-four 16th which helped her shoot 76 (+4). Both Keira Yun and Natalie Lovell shot 82 (+10) and will join Lindemoen in the division’s final group tomorrow.

Brody Alexander is on top of the Boys 14 & Under Division after shooting a 74 (+2) on the day. Xander Tucker is one stroke off his pace as he shot 75 (+3).

Alexa Salamah holds a strong nine-stroke lead over her competitors in the Girls 14 & Under Division after shooting 79 (+7).

It is a very tight race in the Boys 11-12 Division with Ashton Gordon on top with a 38 (+2) in the first round. Both Jacob Thompson and Andrew Perry are right behind him after both shooting 39 (+3).

Both Carol Ann Mendenhall and Candice Tanmas are tied for the lead in the Girls 10-12 Division after both shot 40 (+4). They are a dozen strokes ahead of their nearest chaser which will make the battle between Mendenhall and Tanmas very exciting to watch unfold.

Drayden Lindsay leads the Boys 10 & Under Division after having an incredible round of 35 (-1) during the first day. Both Trip Neeley and Greyson Cloern are not far behind and will hope to catch Lindsey throughout the final round.

Emlie Miller leads the Girls 9 & Under Division with a first-round score of 46 (+10) and is six strokes ahead of her sister Kylie.
