Corbin and Okuda Take Top Titles at Lou Perry Tour Championship
Corbin and Okuda headline the list of champions in Kentucky PGA Junior Tour’s 2023 sendoff.
GEORGETOWN, KY (October 15, 2023) – The Kentucky PGA Junior Tour headed to Cherry Blossom Golf Club this weekend for the final event of the 2023 season. Jameson Corbin and Anika Okuda topped the list of champions today, each winning their first major championships of the year.
Corbin had a solid first tournament round, shooting even par 72 with three bogeys and three birdies. He trailed Evan Taylor by one heading into the final round after Taylor's one-under 71, highlighted by three birdies. Corbin continued his steady play today, firing another even-par round (34-38) that again included three birdies. He claims the Boys 16-18 Lou Perry Tour Championship division win by two shots. Taylor settled in second after a final round 75.
Okuda topped the field by four yesterday after her first-round 79 (39-40) which included nothing worse than a bogey and many pars. She held the lead over Mackenzie Federspiel after her round one 83. Okuda improved by one shot today with a final round 78 that saw her add a birdie on the front and back nines. The Federspiel sisters each fired two-day totals of 160, with a scorecard playoff determining Haley as the second-place finisher, while Mackenzie took third.
The great golf continued throughout the rest of the tournament divisions. The Boys 13-15 division saw a playoff for first after Brady Youssefi and Talen Beane tied with two-day totals of 146. Youssefi improved by eight shots today to shoot 69 after a first-round 77, while Beane improved by six and shot 76-70. Beane was victorious in the playoff to take first in the division for his third win of the season. The Girls 13-15 division saw Samantha Abell hold onto her first-round lead to win by five over Grace Soale (83-77-160). Abell's first victory after a string of top-ten finishes this season, she fired 79-76-155 and included four birdies in the two days.
Play continued for the younger divisions in their nine-hole competitions. Jackson Burrice saw a large margin of victory today in the Boys 11-12 division, with rounds of 35-38-73 creating a seven-shot win over Eelan Bobrowski-Hall (38-42-80). In the Girls 10-12 division, Mary Clayton Rodgers fired an even-par 36 today to add to a first-round 39, winning her division by two over Piper Dunn (36-41-77). Elijah Erxleben won the Boys 10 & under division by three over Max DeHaven, with Erxleben totaling 75 to DeHaven's 78. Kylie Miller topped the Girls 9 & under division with rounds of 46 and 47, while Jamison Welch (37-38-75) claimed the Boys 8 & under title by an impressive 10 shots over Brighton Thompson (39-46-85).

- Players fired a total of 4 eagles, 172 birdies, and 1007 pars over the course of the two days.
- The par-four 18th was Sunday’s hardest hole with a stroke-to-par average of +0.90. The easiest hole of the final round was the par-5 9th which averaged +0.19 strokes over par.
- Sunday’s course average was 81.3 (+9.3), a drop of a stroke and a half after a Saturday average of 82.8 (+10.8).
