Colten Wilson and Drew Wallace Awarded 2020 Gay Brewer, Jr. Grant

LOUISVILLE, KY (May 22, 2020) – The Kentucky Golf Foundation and the family of Gay Brewer, Jr. are honored to announce Drew Wallace and Colten Wilson as the recipients of the 2020 Gay Brewer, Jr. Grant. Wallace and Wilson will both receive $1,000 in funds designed to support their goals of playing college golf following their high school careers.

Wallace is determined to bring his golf game to the next level to make a lasting impression on college coaches. By dedicating his time to golf and school, he is determined to follow in Brewer’s footsteps and become one of the next great Kentucky golfers.

“I am grateful to be chosen to receive the Gay Brewer, Jr. Grant,” Wallace said. “This will help my family pay for travel to golf tournaments and help me achieve my dream of playing college golf.  Thank you to the Gay Brewer family for their continued support of junior golf in Kentucky.”

Wilson has taken steps over the previous few seasons to become a top-tier junior golfer in the state. Last year, he qualified for the 105th Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Amateur at 15 years old. He has competed in regional tournaments stretching from Michigan to Florida to gain the attention of college coaches so he can be the next difference-maker for a school’s team.

“I am very thankful to receive the Gay Brewer, Jr. Grant,” Wilson stated. “I will use it to travel and fulfill my dream of playing golf beyond the junior level.”

The Kentucky Golf Foundation expresses its gratitude to the Brewer family for once again making this grant possible and continuing to grow the game of golf among Kentucky’s youth. The KGF wishes Wallace and Wilson nothing but the best and looks forward to seeing these grants enable both players’ dreams to come true.
